❄️❄️❄️WINTER IS HERE❄️❄️❄️
Hands up who froze their buns off this week? Some of the coldest days on record for the Gold Coast!
I know I did.
But here’s the thing…… where’s your head at when it’s cold? Hibernating isn’t going to get you anywhere let’s face it. And if you’re not physically standing in this gym we can’t help you either.
It’s getting colder and we are losing the light, which doesn’t help the motivation levels for training over winter, right?
But if you’re tempted to hit the snooze button in the morning, remember this – staying motivated this winter requires a change to only one thing: your mindset.
Sure, the conditions encourage eating more and doing less, but the bedrock of motivation is based on two things.
The first is having a goal or target to aim for.
The second is clearly understanding the positive effects your actions will have on your life.
Connect with these two forces and you will always be inspired.
Here are some helpful tips to get you out of bed and pointed in the right direction.
LETS TRAIN FOR A GOAL
There is nothing like having a short-term goal to work towards, to keep you focused and on track with your training. The start of winter brings with it a few local CrossFit Competitions.
Why not keep yourself accountable by signing up for a competition – there are comps for all skill levels. First time? Maybe try a partner or team comp – they are always a ton of fun. Its not about being an elite athlete but enjoying a challenge.
Winter is also the perfect time for stepping up your conditioning because it’s not so bloody hot in the gym!
So get your butt in here and put in work!!!!
SET A GOAL
Not really into conditioning? #cardioishardio
No problem! Set another goal, such as dropping body fat. Hit up a few of your training buddies and see if they will jump into a nutrition challenge with you. Winner gets to set an epic workout as punishment 😉
Maybe the goal to have a five percent reduction in body fat is something to work towards.
Hell, stick a photo of that bikini or those budgie smugglers you want to wear on the fridge (summer will be here before we know it!)
Whatever works for you, stick it up where you’ll see it every day.
FOCUS ON THE BENEFITS
The gravitational pull of the bed is very strong at 5-6am, especially when it is cold and dark outside.
That’s why you need to remind yourself of the benefits exercise brings you.
You want to manage your stress levels, have an abundance of energy and feel good about yourself rather than falling asleep at your desk. Worse again is feeling overwhelmed and unhealthy.
So get a piece of paper and write down all the ways exercise adds to the quality of your life.
Stick it on the fridge, along with your photo, and read it regularly, particularly when you are feeling flat.
GET IN THE GYM AND WORK DAMNIT

EMBRACE THE WEATHER
Instead of avoiding the cold, embrace it.
Remember what Summer feels like? Cant even get through the warm-up some days without losing 2 litres of sweat and feeling like you may overheat!
Winter, you can train hard, get a little sweat on and feel refreshed and ready to crush another day of life.
You don’t have to go to the Himalayan mountains, but even getting outside for some fresh air and open space will be good for your mind as well as your body.
REWARD YOURSELF
When you reach your goal, reward yourself. Not with a big cake, but with something special like a new pair of Metcons or Nanos.
There’s nothing I like more than working towards a goal, achieving it, then splashing out to say: “Well done you legend”
Let’s kick Winters Ass, together.
See you in the gym.
